Health Care Association of Michigan
Abuse of any kind in any health care setting is disturbing. Based on years’ experience as a directed inservice trainer (with multiple directed inservices on abuse), this session will go beyond the abuse and neglect regulations to include key areas such as the biological stress response that contributes to abusive situations, and the complex processes that may pose barriers to compassionate care and even to reporting abuse. We will also explore ways for leadership to create a facility culture that upholds the trauma-informed principles of safety and trust to create a welcoming place for residents to live and for staff to work.Expand summary
