Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery and is the fastest-growing international crime industry in the world. Human trafficking is not a crime that just happens "someplace else;" it happens here in Michigan. The magnitude of this horrific human rights violation is appalling and inconceivable and yet, health care professionals and systems are uninformed and ill-prepared to address this issue. This informative webinar presentation will provide an overview of human trafficking, examine the history and importance behind recent initiatives in the health care sector and provide participants with resources in which they can utilize to fulfill their continuing education requirement for human trafficking.

Learner Objectives:

  • Examine the history behind recent human trafficking victim identification initiatives in the health care sector.
  • Describe the importance of this new continuing education requirement for human trafficking for health care professionals.
  • Describe different opportunities that health care professionals can utilize to fulfill their human trafficking continuing education requirement.
This program has been approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing Home Administrators for 1 contact hour for Licensed Nursing Home Administrators.
